The 100-day rule in plain terms
KakoBuy keeps items you bought through its shopping-agent service, and parcels you forwarded to its warehouse, for 100 days at no charge. The count starts from the order status "in storage". On day 90 it sends an email asking you to submit the parcel waybill, which is the shipping request for the international leg.
If nothing is submitted by day 100, the item is treated as abandoned and destroyed, and the same article says no further notices are sent for destroyed goods. Shelf life is not covered by storage; the article's example is perishables.
Rows bought in different weeks do not share one deadline: each order has its own clock, and the earliest item decides when you must ship. The order status guide explains the status words, and the warehouse page covers where the goods sit.
Free storage is 100 days per order, from the "in storage" status, with one email at day 90.
The cooling-off period and the ¥10 extension
A second article adds a layer the main storage page leaves out. After the free storage period ends, an item enters a 30-day cooling-off period. In that period you cannot submit the item for shipping until you have paid the storage fee. If the fee is still unpaid when the cooling-off period ends, KakoBuy says the item cannot be restored.
The fee is ¥10 per order whose number begins with OG, for each 30 days. You add the "Extend Product Storage Period" service to the cart in My Warehouse and enter each OG number; KakoBuy says it messages you within 24 hours with the new expiry date.
That article contains one odd line. It says charging is in 30-day blocks, then gives an example in which entering "1" as the quantity extends storage by 100 days. Read literally, that contradicts the 30-day charge. We report it as written. Before paying for several orders, buy one extension and check the new expiry date it shows, then decide how many to buy.
The two storage articles also disagree on the starting status: "in storage" in one, "Ready for Shipping" in the other. Record the date each order first shows either status.
Extending costs ¥10 per OG order per 30 days; confirm the quantity wording before buying many.
Rules at a glance
| Item | Rule | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Free storage | 100 days from "in storage" | id=1 |
| Reminder | Email after 90 days asking you to submit the waybill | id=1 |
| After 100 days, main article | Treated as abandoned; destroyed, no further notice | id=1 |
| After free period, extension article | 30-day cooling-off; no shipping submission until fee paid | id=120 |
| Extension fee | ¥10 per OG order per 30 days (about $1.40) | id=120 |
| Abnormal forwarding parcels | 60 days from "Signed for" | id=1 |

Plan to day 100; treat the cooling-off period as a paid last resort.
A batching plan from day 0 to day 130
Day 0 below is the day an order first shows "in storage". Dates are counted from the rules above; KakoBuy publishes no calendar of its own.
| Day | What the rules say | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Clock starts; 100 free days begin | Open the QC photos, note the date in your tracker |
| 1 to 5 | Return and exchange window (120 hours) | Decide on any problem item now |
| 30 | No official milestone | First batching checkpoint: list what is still missing from other sellers |
| 60 | No official milestone | Second checkpoint: get a parcel weight and a line quote |
| 90 | KakoBuy emails a reminder | Submit the parcel now, not later |
| 100 | Free storage ends | Last day without a fee |
| 101 to 130 | Cooling-off period, per id=120 | Pay ¥10 per OG order to ship or extend |
| 131 onward | Item cannot be restored if unpaid | Treat it as gone |
Work backwards from your slowest seller. Taobao sellers dispatch in 3 to 7 days by KakoBuy's account, and seller-to-warehouse time runs 1 to 7 working days by region, so a late seller rarely needs more than two weeks. The haul tracker CSV has a column for the "in storage" date; add 90 and 100 days to get the two dates that matter.
Submit the parcel by day 90, because the reminder email is your only warning.
What extending costs, worked through
Take a hypothetical haul of four orders, each with its own OG number, kept past day 100 because a fifth order is late. All figures here come from a Python check at ¥1 ≈ $0.14.
One 30-day block: 4 orders × ¥10 = ¥40, about $5.60
Two 30-day blocks: 4 orders × 2 × ¥10 = ¥80, about $11.20
Per order per day: ¥10 ÷ 30 = about ¥0.33, or about $0.05
That is small beside shipping: the official estimator listed $23.70 for 1,000 g to Germany on its cheapest line that day (12 October 2026). See the shipping page for quotes and the fees page for other service prices.
The extension fee is small enough to pay on its own each time, so pay per order rather than pre-funding an account.
An extension is cheap per order, but it does not reopen the return window.
Forwarding parcels and the 60-day clock
If a parcel you sent to the warehouse yourself arrives and its order or logistics information is never completed, KakoBuy's help centre calls it abnormal and keeps it only 60 days from "Signed for", because it cannot match the parcel to a user. Create the forwarding order before the seller's parcel lands, and choose the inspection option then; our QC photos page covers what each option checks.
Forwarding parcels get 60 days, not 100; finish the details at once.
How storage overlaps the return window
Returns and exchanges are accepted for 5 days (120 hours) after "Stocked in", but only where the seller takes returns and the goods can be resold. A day-6 request may be refused; an extension does not reopen it. Decide on returns by day 5, then batch. The refunds and returns page sets out the fees for returns after the free monthly one. If you want a second pair of eyes on a batch before you submit it, the contact page has a QR code if you want a second opinion.
Judge quality in the first five days; use the other 95 for batching.
Questions buyers ask
Does KakoBuy warn me before it destroys stored items?
Yes, once. KakoBuy's help centre says an email goes out after 90 days reminding you to submit the parcel waybill. It also says destroyed goods get no further prompts or notices. With 100 free days, that leaves a ten-day gap between the email and the end of free storage, so check your spam folder and calendar the day-90 date yourself.
What happens on day 101 of KakoBuy storage?
Your item enters a 30-day cooling-off period, according to the extension article. During it you cannot submit the item for international shipping until the storage fee is paid, at ¥10 per OG order per 30 days. If nothing is paid when the cooling-off ends, KakoBuy says the item cannot be restored. A different article says over-100-day items are destroyed, so act before day 100.
Does the 100-day clock start at "in storage" or "Ready for Shipping"?
The two KakoBuy articles use different words. The main storage article says the 100 days start from the order status "in storage"; the extension article says the free period begins when the status changes to "Ready for Shipping". They may be the same event described twice, but we could not confirm that. Note the date on which each order first showed either status.
Is a ¥10 storage extension really 100 days for a quantity of 1?
KakoBuy's extension article states the charge as 10 yuan per OG order per 30 days, then gives an example saying that entering "1" as the quantity extends storage by 100 days. Those two statements do not agree. We report both as written and suggest you confirm the end date with KakoBuy's support before paying; the success message should state the new expiry date.
How long are abnormal forwarding parcels kept?
Sixty days, counted from the order status "Signed for", according to KakoBuy's storage article. An abnormal parcel is one whose order or logistics information was never completed after delivery, so the warehouse cannot match it to a user. If you sent a parcel to the warehouse yourself, fill in the forwarding details promptly; otherwise the clock runs out sooner than the normal 100 days.
Can I return an item that is already in storage?
Only inside a short window. KakoBuy's return rule allows a return or exchange request within 5 days (120 hours) of the status "Stocked in", and only if the seller accepts returns and the item can be resold. Storage days 1 to 5 therefore overlap with the return window. After that, the choice is to ship, extend or abandon the item.
