What a 2025 KakoBuy sheet is worth in October 2026
An old KakoBuy list is a set of leads, not a set of orders. Each row was correct on the day someone made it; since then, several agents used to wrap links have gone dark, two big customs rules have changed, and KakoBuy has had an image incident and a short outage. None of that kills the sheet, but it decides which rows need a repair.
Most 2025 rows point at the same three marketplaces as today's sheets: Taobao, Weidian and 1688. KakoBuy accepts their addresses through kakobuy.com/item/details?url= followed by the encoded marketplace URL, which we tested on 12 October 2026. If a row still holds the original address, it can usually be revived in under a minute.
The bad news is in the money columns. A 2025 note such as "about $40 landed" was written for a different customs world: US buyers lost the $800 duty-free allowance in 2025, and EU parcels face a €3 customs charge from 1 July 2026. Read old totals as history, then recalculate.
Keep the 2025 sheet, but treat every row as unchecked until it passes a fresh link test and a fresh cost estimate.
Row status table: what happened to each kind of 2025 row
Sort an old sheet by link type, because the link type decides what has broken. The table groups the rows you will meet in a typical 2025 list, with the change since then and the fix. Statuses were checked on 12 October 2026.
| Row type in the 2025 sheet | What happened since 2025 | What to do now |
|---|---|---|
KakoBuy link (item/details?url=…) | KakoBuy is operating; the format still loads products | Open it; if the item page shows a CNY price and options, the row is live |
| Raw Taobao, Weidian or 1688 link | Unchanged unless the seller delisted the item | Paste into KakoBuy or the link converter |
| CNFans-wrapped link | CNFans shows a maintenance page citing cyberattacks; label Closed | Extract the item ID, rebuild the marketplace link |
| AllChinaBuy-wrapped link | Maintenance notice after a hacker attack; label Closed | Same rescue as CNFans; never pay through it |
| PandaBuy-wrapped link | Closed since the April 2024 raid; domain blocked | Rescue the ID if the URL still contains it |
| ACBuy or MuleBuy link | Hold: ACBuy closure reported in August 2026 though its site loads; MuleBuy returned errors on 6 and 12 Oct | Move the row to KakoBuy; leave nothing in their storage |
| HubbuyCN link | Moved to hubbuy.com; hubbuycn.com services ceased 1 Oct 2026 | Old links break; rebuild from the marketplace ID |
| Short link (shortener or agent-only code) | Target often unrecoverable once the agent or shortener dies | Search the seller's shop by item title, or drop the row |
| Row with a US cost note | De minimis ended for China goods on 2 May 2025, for all countries on 29 Aug 2025 | Recalculate on a tax-free line or budget for duty |
| Row with an EU cost note | Flat €3 per tariff category from 1 Jul 2026; KakoBuy charges €3 per parcel | Add €3 per parcel to the 2025 estimate |
| Row with linked QC photos | KakoBuy reported a QC image incident for images created or updated 2–8 May 2026 | Treat old photos as a hint, not proof |
Background for each agent sits on its own page: the CNFans row rescue, the PandaBuy page and the agent status list.
Sort by link type first; the column with the agent name tells you most of what broke.
Rescuing a link from a dead agent
An agent-wrapped link is a marketplace link inside another site's address. When that site dies, the inner item number often survives as readable text, and that number is all KakoBuy needs.
- Copy the dead link into a plain text editor. Don't open it; you gain nothing from a dead agent's maintenance page.
- Look for the item number. Common patterns are
id=,itemID=,offer/or a long digit string after the platform name. A percent-encoded marketplace URL (with%3A%2F%2F) can be decoded back into a normal address. - Rebuild the marketplace address. Taobao uses
item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=, Weidian usesweidian.com/item.html?itemID=, 1688 usesdetail.1688.com/offer/<id>.html. - Open it through KakoBuy. Paste the rebuilt address into KakoBuy's search box or our converter. A live row shows the CNY price, options and an estimated international shipping figure.
- Save the rebuilt link in its own column so the row survives the next agent closure.
If the dead link has no readable number, for example a shortener code, the row cannot be rescued from the URL alone. Your only route is the seller's shop name or the item title, if the sheet recorded either.
If you can read an item number in the dead link, the row is recoverable; if you can't, it is a search job or a delete.
A worked example: 20 hypothetical 2025 rows rechecked
Here is a hypothetical 20-row 2025 sheet, not a real one. The counts are invented for illustration; the arithmetic was run in Python.
Starting mix (hypothetical): 6 KakoBuy links + 4 raw marketplace links + 5 CNFans-wrapped + 3 PandaBuy-wrapped + 2 short links = 20 rows
KakoBuy + raw rows: 10 rows; 3 items delisted by sellers → 10 − 3 = 7 live
CNFans rows: 3 of 5 still contain a readable item ID → 3 rescued
PandaBuy rows: 1 of 3 contains a readable ID → 1 rescued
Short links: 0 of 2 recoverable
Working rows: 7 + 3 + 1 + 0 = 11 of 20 = 55% recovered; 9 rows (45%) dropped
Now the cost side for one surviving row. Say the row is a ¥200 item (about $28, an example price) that ships alone at 1,000 g. KakoBuy's estimator quoted the following on 12 October 2026 for 1,000 g, no dimensions:
Germany, Europe Tariffless Line -K: $28.00 item + $24.67 shipping + $1.12 declaration (¥8) = $53.79, plus KakoBuy's €3 parcel charge added at checkout
US, USPS Tax-Free Line: $28.00 + $39.28 + $1.12 = $68.40, duty handled by the line
US, EUB: $28.00 + $39.35 + $1.12 = $68.47, and you clear customs yourself and pay any duty
The two US lines cost almost the same at 1 kg, so the tax-free choice is easy for a single item. The German figure shows what a 2025 note would miss: the €3 parcel charge did not exist then. Line prices change with the market; recheck the estimator before you pay, and see the Germany shipping page or the USA page for every line.
Expect to lose a large share of rows in a 2025 sheet and to add customs costs that the original notes never mentioned.
Customs rules that changed under the 2025 price notes
United States. The $800 de minimis exemption ended for goods from China and Hong Kong on 2 May 2025 and for every country on 29 August 2025, according to CBP. A sheet made before those dates assumed small parcels came in duty-free. KakoBuy's notice of 17 April 2025 introduced "tax-free routes" for US users, about $5–10 more per package than regular routes; on non-tax-free routes you clear customs and pay. KakoBuy's own help page id=69 still lists "United States 800 USD", which is out of date.
European Union. From 1 July 2026 the EU removed the €150 duty exemption and introduced a temporary flat €3 duty per tariff category for parcels up to €150, running to 1 July 2028 under the Council of the EU decision. KakoBuy's 23 June 2026 notice says it charges €3 per parcel regardless of how many categories are inside and covers the rest; the €3 is added to shipping at checkout. Its 1 July 2026 notice says EU duty-free lines include all duties. Import VAT (19% in Germany, 21% in Spain) has applied from the first euro since July 2021. The duty-free lines page lists which lines include it.
UK and Canada. Nothing comparable changed, but check the basics: UK VAT on goods up to £135 is collected at the point of sale; Canada allows only CAD 20 duty- and tax-free on goods from China.
Any 2025 total for US or EU delivery is now too low; rebuild it from a current quote.
KakoBuy incidents a 2025 row may be caught by
On 11 May 2026 KakoBuy announced that some QC images created or updated between 2 and 8 May 2026 had displayed wrongly or were unavailable. KakoBuy blamed warehouse-side upload permissions "improperly accessed and misused by external parties", said accounts, passwords, orders, balances, payment details, addresses and logistics data were not affected, and reset the permissions. It matters only if a row links to QC photos from that week; our guide to rows with QC photos shows how to judge them.
In mid-August 2026 the site had brief downtime. TikTok videos then claimed KakoBuy had been raided or was shutting down. rep.tools, which earns a KakoBuy affiliate commission, said on 31 August 2026 that no evidence supported those claims and its daily QC and tracking integrations ran normally. KakoBuy published no outage notice we could find, and the exact dates are not published. A row that failed to load then may simply have been tested on a bad day. The outage log keeps the timeline.
Re-test any row you marked dead in August 2026, and distrust QC photos dated 2–8 May 2026.
Moving the survivors into a sheet that lasts
Copy the working rows into a format that survives the next round of closures. Our KakoBuy haul tracker CSV has 23 columns, with the original marketplace link and the KakoBuy link side by side, then order number, arrival date, the free-storage end date (arrival plus 100 days), the return deadline (arrival plus 5 days), weight, line, quote and the ¥8 typical declaration fee. Its example row shows the Weidian-to-KakoBuy encoding.
For the link test, the nine-step row check CSV runs from "link opens" through price, variant names, seller history, photos, weight and line fit to a rules check. Run it on each survivor before you pay.
- kakobuy-haul-tracker.csv — 23 columns, one example row, storage and return dates
- kakobuy-row-check.csv — 9 checks with pass rules and notes
When it's time to pay, pay per order: settle each order and each parcel when you place it. KakoBuy's help pages describe paying into an account balance; we suggest paying per order instead, which matters more after a year in which several agents closed or went offline. The KakoBuy spreadsheet homepage keeps current finds and door quotes if your rescued list ends up short.
Store the original marketplace link next to every KakoBuy link, and the next agent closure costs you nothing.
Questions buyers ask
My 2025 sheet links to CNFans. Can I still use those rows with KakoBuy?
Yes, if the item ID survives. CNFans showed a maintenance page citing persistent cyberattacks when we checked on 12 October 2026, so its links no longer open products. Copy the number after id= or itemID= from the CNFans link, rebuild the Taobao or Weidian address, then paste that into KakoBuy. If the row only has a CNFans short link, the item ID is gone and you will need to search the seller's shop instead.
Did shipping a 2025 sheet's rows to the US get more expensive?
For many buyers, yes. The $800 duty-free allowance ended for goods from China on 2 May 2025 and for all countries on 29 August 2025. A row priced in early 2025 assumed no duty. On KakoBuy you now either pick a line it labels tax-free, which its April 2025 notice puts at roughly $5–10 more per package, or clear customs and pay yourself.
What does the EU change in July 2026 mean for an old 2025 row?
Since 1 July 2026 the EU charges a flat €3 duty per tariff category on low-value parcels. KakoBuy says it charges €3 per parcel whatever the number of categories and adds it to shipping at checkout. So a German or Spanish buyer should add €3 to any 2025 cost note, on top of import VAT, which has applied from the first euro since July 2021.
Are QC photos linked in a 2025 sheet still trustworthy?
Mostly, but they are old evidence. A seller may have changed the batch, materials or sizing since the photo was taken. Separately, KakoBuy said on 11 May 2026 that some QC images created or updated between 2 and 8 May 2026 displayed wrongly or went missing. Treat any photo from that week as unverified and wait for your own warehouse photos.
Is it worth fixing a 2025 sheet or should I start a new one?
Fix it if most rows keep marketplace links. In our hypothetical 20-row sample, 11 rows could be rebuilt as working KakoBuy links and 9 could not, a 55% recovery rate. Above roughly half, repairing is faster than hunting new finds. Copy the survivors into the haul tracker CSV, keep the original link column, and delete the rest.
Did KakoBuy itself close or change since 2025?
No closure. KakoBuy loaded normally on 12 October 2026 and posted event announcements on 7 September and 9 October 2026. It did have brief downtime in mid-August 2026; rep.tools, which earns a KakoBuy affiliate commission, said on 31 August 2026 that raid or shutdown claims had no supporting evidence. Exact outage dates were not published.
