What the help centre says you can pay with
KakoBuy's help centre names five ways to pay, and none of them is a local card scheme. PayPal is the main route for buyers in the US, UK and EU; Alipay and WeChat Pay are Chinese wallets that need a mainland-linked account; Wise is a bank-style transfer; bank transfer is described but incomplete. Prices are shown in CNY with a converted estimate, and the exchange rate follows the Bank of China rate, KakoBuy says.
One article lists "balance payment" and recommends it to reduce exchange losses, which means funding an account first. We suggest paying per order instead: settle each order, and later each parcel, at the time you place it. The example below shows what that costs.
Five methods are named; PayPal is the practical one outside China.
Methods compared
| Method | Fee stated | Currency and speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| PayPal (balance) | 3.5% + US$0.30 or 2.9% + US$0.30 | Converted to US dollars; 1 to 60 minutes to appear | PayPal address must match the order address |
| Cards via PayPal | Same as PayPal | Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB | Select "International Credit Card" at checkout |
| Alipay | None | 1 to 60 minutes to appear | Needs an Alipay account |
| WeChat Pay | None | 1 to 60 minutes to appear | Bank card bound to WeChat; the article lists mainly Chinese banks |
| Wise transfer | Wise's own fee; KakoBuy calls it lower than PayPal | USD, GBP, EUR, NZD, AUD, CAD, SGD direct | Transfer number entered on KakoBuy; sender name must match |
| Bank transfer | Depends on your bank | Converted to RMB at KakoBuy's rate | Beneficiary details in the help article read "wait" |
Read the Wise row as KakoBuy's claim, made in an article addressed to site testers: it says it chose Wise as the main payment method because of lower fees and more currencies than PayPal. We have not compared fees ourselves.
Cards work only through PayPal; the other routes are Chinese wallets, Wise and wire.
PayPal fees: two official numbers
KakoBuy's help pages give two PayPal handling fees. The deposit articles say 3.5% plus US$0.30, and the PayPal article says 2.9% plus US$0.30. Both say the fee is a handling charge; the refund terms say it is borne by the user. We cannot tell which is newer, so use the fee shown at checkout.
The example uses hypothetical totals, with sums run in Python:
One payment of $100: at 3.5% = $3.50 + $0.30 = $3.80; at 2.9% = $2.90 + $0.30 = $3.20
Two payments, $60 and $40: at 3.5% = $2.40 + $1.70 = $4.10; at 2.9% = $2.04 + $1.46 = $3.50
Cost of splitting: $0.30 more in both cases, the fixed part of the fee
Pay-per-order costs $0.30 per extra payment, less than the $0.60 gap between KakoBuy's two rates on a $100 order. Our fees page lists the other charges.
The fixed $0.30 is the price of paying per order; the percentage gap between pages is bigger.
PayPal address rule
KakoBuy has a help article whose title states the rule: the PayPal shipping address must match the KakoBuy recipient's address. For a PayPal balance payment, it says to enter or change the associated shipping address on the payment page first, matching the destination country chosen when you submitted the order and the address entered when you submitted the parcel. For card payments, select "International Credit Card" first, then enter the address linked to your PayPal account on the payment page, again matching KakoBuy.
- Submit the order or parcel with your real delivery address.
- Choose PayPal, or International Credit Card for a card.
- On the PayPal page, set the shipping address to the same one.
- Confirm the payment and wait up to 60 minutes for it to show.
The first-order guide shows where the address step falls.
Match the PayPal address to the KakoBuy address before you pay.
Wise, Alipay, WeChat and bank transfer
Wise is the transfer route with the most detail. KakoBuy's article says it accepts seven currencies directly (USD, GBP, EUR, NZD, AUD, CAD, SGD) and that sending another currency still works but needs more conversions. You send money to details shown on a KakoBuy page, then enter the Wise transfer number and your name on KakoBuy. The name must match your Wise name exactly, including order and capitals, or the credit may be delayed.
Alipay and WeChat Pay have no handling fee, and credit may take 1 to 60 minutes. The WeChat article names Chinese banks only, so check eligibility first.
The bank-transfer article covers a USD wire and a mainland remittance, but every beneficiary field reads "wait". We would not send money based on it.
Wise is the documented alternative to PayPal; the wire article is unfinished.
Refunds: original method, minus fees
KakoBuy's refund terms say that money paid by PayPal, card or another online method is returned to your original account by the original method. The handling fee that arises is borne by you. A refund application can be made only after more than two days have passed since the payment. For payments made by remittance, KakoBuy asks for verification, and finance staff process the refund within 2 to 3 days at your cost.
Separately, the cancellation and return articles say refunds for cancelled or returned orders go to your KakoBuy account balance, another reason to pay per order. The refunds and returns page covers the timing, and the insurance page covers parcel claims.
Refunds travel back the way they came, and the fees do not.
KakoBuy PayPal, Klarna and cards
PayPal is covered above. Klarna is not mentioned in the help centre we read on 12 October 2026, so we cannot say it is supported, what it costs or whether refunds work differently. If it appears at checkout, read the terms on the screen. Cards are handled through PayPal, not directly, and the card networks named are Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB.
Check the destination first: the shipping page quotes line prices by country. Prefer not to open an account yet? Our WhatsApp QR code is on the contact page.
PayPal and Wise are documented; Klarna is not.
Questions buyers ask
Does KakoBuy accept Klarna?
We could not confirm it. Klarna does not appear in any of the 142 KakoBuy help articles we read on 12 October 2026, and the methods those pages name are PayPal, Alipay, WeChat Pay, Wise and bank transfer. If your checkout shows a Klarna button, treat that as a newer option than the help pages and check the terms on the screen. Do not assume the PayPal fee rules apply to it.
Which KakoBuy PayPal fee is right, 3.5% or 2.9%?
KakoBuy's help pages disagree: the payment and deposit articles say 3.5% + US$0.30, while the PayPal article says 2.9% + US$0.30. On a US$100 payment that is $3.80 against $3.20, a gap of $0.60. The checkout screen should show the fee for the payment you are making, so read it before you confirm and treat that figure as the real one.
Why does PayPal ask for an address that matches KakoBuy's?
KakoBuy's help article titled "PayPal Shipping Address Must Match KakoBuy Recipient's Address" says the shipping address on the PayPal payment page should equal the address you gave KakoBuy for the order. This applies whether you pay from a PayPal balance or by card through PayPal. Change the PayPal address first, then pay, or the payment may be rejected.
How long do KakoBuy refunds take to reach my card?
KakoBuy does not publish a card-refund time. Its refund terms say money paid by PayPal, card or another online method goes back to the original account by the original method, that the handling fee is borne by you, and that you can apply only after more than 2 days have passed since payment. Seller-side refunds for returns are quoted separately at 7 to 15 days.
Can I pay KakoBuy by bank transfer?
The help centre has a bank-transfer article for overseas wire and mainland China remittance, but its beneficiary fields all read "wait", so no usable details were published when we read it on 12 October 2026. Wise is the documented transfer route, in USD, GBP, EUR, NZD, AUD, CAD or SGD. Ask support before sending any wire, and never use details from a chat message.
Is it safer to pay each order separately?
It limits exposure. One help page recommends balance payment to cut exchange losses. Our advice differs: pay per order, so no money sits with the agent. The cost is the fixed US$0.30 part of the PayPal fee on every payment: two payments instead of one add $0.30 at either rate.
